Riverland Conservancy Project

The Riverland Conservancy Project, located in Sauk County, had its final restoration phase completed in 2004. This is a picture of the 2003 phase of the restoration project during construction. We removed the clay/silt layer, exposing the ancient peat. This project is very remarkable in that it will result in very diverse habitat.  The Riverland staff is doing a great job restoring areas surrounding the wetland area to native prairie and a public trail winds through the entire site.

One member of a goose pair looks on as the other chases a rival mate away from the prime goose real estate that is the Riverland Conservancy site, shown above a few months after the restoration was complete.
