Town of Dunn Project

The Town of Dunn Project is located within Lake Waubesa in Dane County and was completed by WWA in November of 2003. With this project WWA's staff began by locating a sedimented pond using aerial photographs from the 1930's. We then used a bulldozer to scrape away the sediment, exposing the organic wetland soil. Note the difference in soil color from the bottom of the scrape (black) to the surrounding farm field (gray). Also note the water pooling at the bottom. This is from ground water upwelling, not surface runoff.
