Project: Carpenter Creek County: Waushara Acres to Restore: 60 The Carpenter Creek restoration is located within the head waters of Carpenter Creek. Carpenter Creek is a class II cold water stream. The main concern is sedimentation caused by the network of ditches in the headwaters. Restoration of the headwaters wetland complex will improve Carpenter Creek’s cold water stream habitat. The ditches will be plugged and partially filled. This will allow the water to remain on the site longer and create some open water habitat by flooding a Reed Canary grass dominated area. A series of scrapes will be put in along the ditch fills where Reed Canary Grass dominates. This will not only reduce the prevalence of the invasive grass but create small pockets of diversified habitat. The scrapes will also aide in the sustainability of the ditch fills and plugs by spreading the water out over a broad area as it historically would have. This project is located off Archer Dr. about 1 mile north of the intersection of CTY M and 30th Ave. Take Archer Dr. to the west off 30th Ave. in the town of Saxville. |
