By Rob Monette, Regional Director
This article originally appeared in Wisconsin Waterfowl Association’s October, 2020 Newsletter edition.
Editors note: If Rob’s name sounds familiar, it probably should. Rob’s been with the organization for decades, serving as committee chair for our Marshland Chapter and then on our Board of Directors. He’s recently retired from his former full-time job and is now officially taking over as WWA’s Regional Director as we finally allow Tom Seibert to retire. Kind of*.
Everybody’s had a first… I now have my first month in as Regional Director for WWA. I guess it must have gone okay, no pink slip in the mail. Yet. But I was also able to be along when my friend Mark LaBarbera shot his first goose, further proof that firsts really can happen to us at any age.
Getting right to it: 2021 Conservation Calendars are here; who wants them, needs them or would like to sell them? Email me at robmarshlandwwa@gmail.com and we’ll get them to you. FYI, they make great Christmas gifts.
Make sure to check the events page, we have a little lull for the hunting seasons and then December is shaping up fast:
- December 3rd: Drawing of our epic State Hunt raffle taking place at the ever popular (it fills up quick) Christmas Bash. Also taking place at the Bash will be the drawing of the Fausti Model CLASS LX O/U 20ga. ($3300 value!). Get your tickets soon, this one is expected to sell out as well.
- December 6th: We’re rolling out something new with the “WWA Day on the Xmas Tree Farm” taking place at Francis Trees in Rio, WI. We’ll also be drawing two class A (need not be present to win) raffles that day. Check them out here.
- December 10th: 31st Annual Lakeshore/Manitowoc Chapter Banquet.
- Dec 19th: Christmas Present Raffle drawing for TWO SYKL electric bikes taking place at the Marsh Inn. Win one for you and give away the other to your favorite person. Win-win!
I want to mention that I have a new found respect for Tom and what this “job” requires – and what it took to do it. Thanks…
Rob
*Tom will continue working for WWA on a part-time basis as our Class A Coordinator and Event Consultant. If you’re used to seeing him at our events we have a feeling you’ll still be seeing a lot of Tom!
