When it comes to education about waterfowl hunting or fishing on the mighty Mississippi River or any inland waterbody, Warden Bob Jumbeck is your warden.

Warden Bob Jumbeck

In addition to being a walking encyclopedia on the varying regulations and laws enforced by the state and federal laws in play on the Mississippi, Warden Bob investigates potential resource violations, works to protect wetlands, maintains strong community involvement with waterfowl organizations and introduces youth to waterfowl knowledge and hunting.

These are a few of the many reasons Warden Bob Jumbeck of Alma was the choice for the Wisconsin State Waterfowl Officer of the Year award presented at the May 15 Wisconsin Conservation Congress awards banquet.

Warden Bob, with the DNR since 1999, is based in Alma where his service area is focused around the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, including about 32 Mississippi River miles on pools 4, 5 and 5A. His service territory area borders Minnesota and includes the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Upper Mississippi Wildlife and Fish Refuge. If that’s not enough, Warden Bob also is responsible for an inland area of Buffalo County that consists of more than a dozen townships.

Warden Bob’s primary responsibility as a conservation warden is to ensure the safe and wise use of Wisconsin’s natural resources through enforcement, education and community involvement. He excels in each of these areas.

Warden Bob also is responsible for enforcing all (DNR) regulated activities which include hunting, fishing, trapping, recreational vehicles, recreation property, environmental contamination and waterway/wetland regulations.

Bob is highly motivated when it comes to waterfowl in his professional life. Bob focuses on protecting the waterfowl and wetland resource.

Congratulations to Warden Bob.
