WWA Events and CoVid-19 Community Cooperation

March 16, 2020

From Bruce Ross, Executive Director

To our WWA family:

WWA leaders have been following and planning around the health advisories that have come out and with this email we are announcing the immediate steps we will be taking to support our community in combating the outbreak.

Since our currently scheduled spring banquet events have attendance numbers greater than 50 persons, we are proud to join the community cooperation that is happening around the country to control this epidemic and will comply with the current ban on these events put in place today by Governor Evers.

WWA events are now being postponed and rescheduled to dates after the crisis period has passed, and at least through May 15th, longer if needed.

WWA operations are heavily dependent on our fundraising banquets and events.  Unlike big national organizations, WWA does not have large reserve fund balances to sustain our operations without significant impact. So these measures WILL challenge our operations.

WWA takes great pride in delivering our missions efficiently…. but that means there is no “fat” to cut. Field operations will be reduced, staff cutbacks implemented, outreach efforts eliminated.

Make no mistake, this will be a difficult time for WWA, but with the staff and volunteer and member support we have always received, we will survive – and likely be stronger in the long run.

Through the course of this year, I have become convinced there of the very significant value of a state-based organization who speaks for WIWaterfowlers. And so we are thankful to have received calls from people who want to help us during this difficult period. Here’s what we tell those callers:
